Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 10 March 2017

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

This week, Bioethicists have warned that the new non-invasive pre-natal screening test is being used by some parents to determine the sex of their baby and could result in an increase in sex-selective abortions.

Last week, the DUP was re-elected as the majority party in the Northern Ireland Assembly (but with fewer seats, thereby losing its right to veto; the Home Affairs Select Committee published a report urging the Government not to stop unaccompanied child migrants coming to the UK under the Dubs scheme until further information had been received; two street preachers were convicted of a racially aggravated public order offence; and the House of Lords voted through an amendment to the Brexit Bill requiring the Government to protect the rights of EU citizens living in the UK.
