Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 31 March 2017

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

This week, negotiations between the DUP and Sinn Fein failed to produce a new government in Northern Ireland within the requisite time frame. Parliamentary Select Committees have called for the Government to do more in relation to both childhood obesity and achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality). On Wednesday, Article 50 was triggered starting the process for the UK's exit from the EU, but members of the Scottish parliament voted on Tuesday to request a second Scottish independence referendum before the end of the two-year period of Brexit negotiations.
