Dear Lord, thank you for Christians in chaplaincy roles in schools, colleges and universities. Grant them insight, patience, wisdom and love for the students and staff members they care for and open opportunities to share Your grace and truth. May they be “lights shining on a hill that cannot be hid.” In your name. Amen.

Monday
God of Wisdom, we pray for Prime Minister Boris Johnson who is expected to announce a relaxation of lockdown restrictions today. May he and his cabinet make wise decisions on reopening the economy in a safe way based on scientific evidence. We realise that many sectors of the economy have been badly affected by restrictions which have been in place for several months now. Please help them to recover, we pray. Amen.

Tuesday
Gracious God, please give our government wisdom as it prepares to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow later this year. Thank you for the skills of those who have developed renewable energy solutions over the last 10 years. We praise you that natural resources such as the sun and wind can be utilised to provide energy for homes and businesses. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Are there any actions you can do to make your home or workplace more ‘green’?

Wednesday
Caring Saviour, we pray for all adults in the UK who are classed as being severely obese. Please help them to appreciate and understand the increased risks of stroke, breast cancer and type 2 diabetes. We know that obesity is one of the factors in determining how badly people are affected by coronavirus. Help us to encourage those we know who need support in maintaining a healthy weight. Amen.

Thursday
Faithful God, we want to worship and praise you! Thank you for entrusting us with the amazing privilege of prayer. May we be inspired and led by your Holy Spirit whenever we come before you with our worship, thanksgiving, confession and intercession. Thank you for every occasion when you have answered our prayers. Help us to be humble when we pray and to trust in your power and love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Friday
Dear Lord, we remember the Christian charity, the Church Army at this time. Thank you for all the work they do in London with homeless women and those fleeing domestic abuse. Providing shelter, food and somewhere to stop and stay in a safe environment. Thank you that Barclays and The Evening Standard have donated £500,000 to provide funding for a year. Please guide the leadership team at the centre in how best to spend this money to help those who need it most. In your mercy. Amen.

Saturday
Eternal God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life; help us to walk in his way, to rejoice in his truth and to share his risen life. Please give us grace to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh and the devil and to follow you with pure hearts and minds; who reigns with your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
