The LORD is righteous in all he does, merciful in all his acts. He is near to those who call to him, who call to him with sincerity.

Sunday
Bright Morning Star, thank you for the light and sunny summer evenings. We know how your word teaches us that light is a powerful symbol of your presence. It provides guidance in the darkness and reminds us to “walk in the light, as he is in the light.” (1 John ch1v7). May we be encouraged that “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119v105). It illuminates our way and provides us with guidance in the way we should go. Amen.

Monday
Creator of all the earth, please watch over those who live and work in coastal communities and at sea. We pray for governments to find ways of preventing practices that deplete fish stocks and damage the environment, while upholding the livelihoods of those who go to sea. Please may people be more respectful of the natural environment and its resources. For your glory. Amen.

Tuesday
Lord of Mercy, thank you that the media provides a voice to those suffering through conflict, oppression, exploitation or injustice. We know that China is facing mounting criticism from around the world over its treatment of the Muslim Uighur population in the north-western region of Xinjiang. We bring these people before you and give thanks for human rights groups that continue to highlight the repression and abuses they face. In your name. Amen.

Wednesday
Almighty God, thank you for the blessing of children and the joy and happiness they bring. Please help parents to prioritise in building loving and supportive relationships with their children. Enable them to make use of every opportunity that arises to teach them about you and to encourage their faith. Amen.

Thursday
Almighty God, your servant John the Baptist was wonderfully born to fulfil your purpose by preparing the way for the coming of your Son Jesus. Encourage us to repent of our sins according to John's preaching. Help us to follow his example of speaking the truth to power and patiently suffering for the truth's sake, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Friday
Caring Saviour, we bring before you those who have lost their livelihoods as a result of the global pandemic. Please be with them in their struggle to find suitable alternative employment at this time. We know that many will also be suffering with poor mental health, such as anxiety and depression. Look upon them with mercy, we pray. Amen.

Saturday
God of truth, we pray for preachers and evangelists preparing for tomorrow and for those who will listen to them. May their words provide both a challenge and a comfort to those who hear. Give their congregations a desire to listen and put into practice what is spoken to them. May they be receptive to the prompting of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Our events
Dear Lord, we pray that you would equip Ian Moore as he speaks at Time Out with God on Monday 21st June. May each person attending be drawn closer to you. Amen.
