Sunday
Almighty God, you inspired Luke the doctor to proclaim the love and healing power of your Son. Give your Church, by the grace of the Holy Spirit and through the medicine of the gospel, the same love and power to heal, we pray. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Monday
God of Wisdom, we pray for the government as it tries to find ways of helping households and businesses cope with rapidly rising increases in gas prices. May they find the best way to protect the vulnerable in our society and also to enable businesses to keep factories open. We pray that families will not be forced into fuel poverty during the winter months. Amen.

Tuesday
Lord of all Comfort, we bring before you church leaders and other Christians in India who are suffering from harassment by Hindu extremists. Father, please protect them as they face false allegations of using force and bribery to make people convert from Hinduism to Christianity. Give them courage, hope and patience in their troubles and bring them the joy of your salvation. Amen.

Wednesday
Incarnate Christ, who knew what it was to be mocked, beaten and imprisoned; we remember our brothers and sisters jailed and abducted for their faith in you. Through the Holy Spirit's power, our prayers can go where we cannot. May our brothers and sisters around the world know your courage, comfort and our support as they suffer for your name. In your love, hear our prayer. Amen.

Thursday
Unchanging Saviour, we give thanks for freedom of expression in this country and pray that it will be protected against attack. So, Father, we are concerned that Worcester College, Oxford was recently criticised by students for hosting a conference by The Wilberforce Academy, which included a speaker linked to “conversion therapy.” We pray that colleges throughout the country will not fall victim to cancel culture and invited speakers can express their opinions without fear of intimidation and threats. In your name. Amen.

Friday
Dear Lord, we pray for the family and loved ones of former MP James Brokenshire, who recently died from lung cancer. Please wrap your loving arms around them and comfort them in their grief. Thank you for his Christian faith and that he attended church regularly. We pray also for all who are struggling with bereavement at this time. May they find comfort in knowing that you are beside them. We ask these prayers in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Saturday
Good Shepherd, we pray for a successful roll out of flu jabs and Covid booster vaccines this autumn and winter. May those most at risk be encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as they are given the opportunity, to protect both themselves and other people. For your name’s sake. Amen.
Our events taking place
Dear Lord, we pray for Richard Blyth as he leads ‘Time Out with God’ on October 18th. May all those who attend be drawn closer to you. Amen.
