The LORD is righteous in all he does, merciful in all his acts. He is near to those who call to him, who call to him with sincerity.

Sunday
Father, we thank you for the privilege of being able to come to you in prayer at any time or place. Your word in Nahum ch1v7 tells us: “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.” Help us always to stay close to you in our often busy lives. May we know you more clearly, love you more dearly and follow you more nearly, day by day. Amen.

Monday
Almighty God, we ask for your blessing on the Reverend Canon Lusa Nsenga-Ngoy, who has been appointed as the new Bishop of Willesden. By your Spirit, enable him to fulfil all that you require him to do after his ordination in January. Please help Canon Lusa and others who are starting new roles, to be the best they can be, as they carry out your will. We pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Tuesday
All-knowing God, we know our government have pledged that the United Kingdom will become ‘carbon neutral’ by 2050. We realise this will require many changes in the way people do things, especially relating to road transport and home heating. But Lord, we are concerned how this may affect poorer people and those living in rural communities. Give our government humility as it produces policies needed to meet this target. Help them to listen to any concerns raised by MPs and others. Amen.

Wednesday
Loving Father, we bring before you the many children and young people who aren’t connected with their local church and don’t yet know you. Help churches to focus on sharing your love with them in creative and stimulating ways. Lord, please draw close to these children and young people who may be fearful, lonely or depressed at the present time. May they sense your presence and know the comfort, love and hope that your Son, Jesus, offers. Please prepare their hearts to receive the wonderful message of hope during this Advent season. Help them realise just how much you love them. In your precious name, we pray. Amen.

Thursday
Liberating Saviour, we thank and praise you for the ways that people have reached out and cared for each other during the pandemic. From church leaders offering online services, to neighbours delivering shopping and medicine to those who are vulnerable. We remember particularly the communities struggling to recover economically, where mental health is fragile and lives are disrupted. Thank you, Father, for the abilities and talents you have put within us to care for others. For your glory. Amen.

Friday
Liberating Saviour, we know that throughout this year, large numbers of refugees have crossed the channel by boat and that twenty-seven have recently drowned. Please give wisdom to British and French politicians as they try to resolve this issue. We intercede for those who have fled their homes to find safety and freedom. May they be treated with compassion and mercy as they try to settle in a foreign country. Help us remember that you were a refugee in Egypt and know how it feels to flee from the place you were born. For your mercy’s sake. Amen.

Saturday
Merciful Lord, we bring before you all those working alongside churches in the Democratic Republic of Congo to deliver emergency food and money to the most vulnerable. We pray especially for the one third of the population facing acute hunger. Please sustain these churches as they try to meet this overwhelming need and bless them by your Holy Spirit. Amen.
Our events taking place
We pray for the Lunchtime Special taking place on 8th December with Libbi MacGregor and Hazel Newman. May it be an enjoyable time for all those attending.
