The LORD is righteous in all he does, merciful in all his acts. He is near to those who call to him, who call to him with sincerity.

Sunday
Father of all, on this day we pray especially for fathers and fatherhood across our land. Your word in Ephesians ch6v4 clearly instructs fathers to bring up their children in the training and instruction of the Lord. We pray that you will strengthen the fathers in our nation and will continue to empower churches, organizations and individuals to invest in fathers and fatherhood for the sake of our children. For your mercy’s sake. Amen.

Monday
Caring Saviour, we bring before you the many elderly and retired people living in the UK. Thank you for their wisdom and knowledge gained over many years. Help us to appreciate what they have to offer and be willing to listen and learn. May they remember your promise in Isaiah ch46v4: “Even to your old age and grey hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” Amen.

Tuesday
Living Lord, your word in 1 Tim ch4v12 encourages young people to “set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” Please strengthen all young Christians to have the courage and confidence to talk about their faith in their everyday lives. We ask that you will give young Christians across the country the wisdom to know when and how to share what Jesus means to them. In your precious name. Amen.

Wednesday
Generous God, we pray that you will raise up young leaders and encourage them to be passionate about making the gospel known and relating it to contemporary culture. Please give them opportunities to serve you in the church, whether as evangelists, teachers, pastors, administrators, worshippers or intercessors. May they feel prompted by your Spirit in all they do. For your glory. Amen.

Thursday
Righteous Judge, we bring before you all the candidates standing in the Tiverton and Honiton and Wakefield by-elections today. We pray that all sides will have been honest in their campaigning. Let there be an acceptance of the result by all those who were unsuccessful. We ask too that the winning candidates will show humility and a desire to serve all their constituents to the best of their abilities. Amen.

Friday
Father of all, we know how stressful it can be when families overspend and fall into arrears. Give them wisdom to understand the consequences of being in debt, so they can seek help at an early stage before the problems become more serious. We are reminded that, at this time, there is a real cost of living squeeze affecting so many people across the UK. In your mercy. Amen.

Saturday
Dear Lord, we pray for our government and its controversial policy of sending asylum seekers to Rwanda. We know that senior Church of England bishops have written a letter condemning the policy. For this reason, we pray that our government will be guided by your wisdom in this matter. May all who are seeking refuge and sanctuary be treated fairly as they find new places to rebuild their lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
