The LORD is righteous in all he does, merciful in all his acts. He is near to those who call to him, who call to him with sincerity.

Sunday
Forgiving God, please have mercy on those churches that have forgotten or neglected the basic gospel message. Help us to remember that your word is never preached in vain; it always accomplishes what it intends. We ask that all churches and denominations will be encouraged by your Spirit to speak boldly to the congregations in their care. For your glory. Amen.
How can you encourage your vicar or pastor to stay true to the message of the gospel?

Monday
Light of the Nations, we pray for Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss, the two contenders to become our next Prime Minister. May the successful candidate act with integrity, restore an appreciation of politicians and remove some of the cynicism surrounding politics in general. We pray also for the new Cabinet that will be appointed. May they uphold religious freedom, free speech and freedom of conscience. In your great mercy. Amen.

Tuesday
Lord of All, we pray that a new Minister of State for Faith and Communities will be appointed soon. Please enable whoever takes up this role to have a positive influence on faith community engagement. We ask that they can gain the trust and respect of different faith groups as they build up positive relations with them. In your Son Jesus Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.

Wednesday
God of Mercy, as a nation many of us expressed our deep gratitude towards the NHS throughout the pandemic. We pray that positive solutions can now be found to meet the critical shortages of doctors, nurses and midwives and to decrease the long waiting lists. Please give wisdom to politicians and decision makers as they make plans to recruit more staff and tackle the Covid treatment backlog. For Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Thursday
Generous God, we give grateful thanks for the gift of music and singing in worship and for such a wide variety of contemporary and traditional styles to help us express our praise to you. Your word in Psalm 92 reminds us: “It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High.” We pray that, as people lift their voices to you, may they feel inspired and their hearts be uplifted. For you are great and most worthy of praise. In your name, we pray. Amen.
Do you ever pray or show your appreciation for the choir or music group in your church?

Friday
Dear Lord, we give thanks for the life of David Trimble who helped negotiate the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland which brought an end to decades of violence in the province. Thank you for his dedication to the peace process, his faith in the democratic process and for his willingness to compromise, so a deal could be agreed. We lift his family and friends before you now at this sad time. Amen.

Saturday
Our Father in heaven, we read in the gospels how your Son Jesus Christ was wonderfully transfigured on a high mountain before Peter, James and John. He showed them His glory and spoke with Moses and Elijah. Give us strength and determination to hear His voice, to listen to Him and reveal His glory in the world. In His name we ask this prayer. Amen.
Our events taking place
Dear Lord, we pray that you would equip Chris Hill as he speaks at Time Out with God on 8th August and at his monthly seminar the following day. May those attending be encouraged in their faith.
