Sunday
Gracious God, we give thanks for grandparents and all the support they provide to their families, especially during this holiday time. Your Word in Proverbs ch17v6 reminds us how “grandchildren are the crown of the elderly.” Give them the desire to pray for their grandchildren regularly, to demonstrate their wisdom and experience and share the gospel with them appropriately. In your name. Amen.

Monday
Sovereign Lord, we bring before you the Lambeth Conference which finishes today. May this meeting from across the Anglican communion have been a positive time where bishops and archbishops had the opportunity to ‘walk, listen and witness together.’ We realise they have differences of opinion in many things, but we pray that a spirit of unity was experienced among all those present. For your glory. Amen.

Tuesday
‘What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.’ Thank you, Lord Jesus, you are our great high priest. You were tempted in every way and can understand our weaknesses and failings. Forgive us when we fail you in many different ways. May we not feel discouraged, but be reminded how your word teaches us that you will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. In your mercy. Amen.

Wednesday
‘All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.’ Lord of Creation, we praise you for the different coloured flowers that open and the birds that sing. Thank you that the weather has returned to more normal temperatures after such a hot spell recently. Please bless those parts of the UK that are in need of rainfall. Help us to use water wisely in the coming weeks and months, we pray. Amen.

Thursday
Loving Heavenly Father, we bring before you all those affected by the recent rise in the Bank of England base rate. Please show them where to go for help if they are struggling financially to make ends meet. We give thanks for charities like Christians Against Poverty who provide money and debt advice to those who are struggling and need support. For your name’s sake. Amen.

Friday
Loving Father, we thank you for the many ways in which you provide for each of us. Please prompt us to respond with wisdom and compassion to those who are in great need; through giving, extending hospitality, visiting, befriending, encouragement and prayer. At this time, we remember especially any Ukrainian or Afghan refugees who are living in the UK. In your name we ask this prayer. Amen.

Saturday
Gracious Heavenly Father, we give you grateful thanks that Covid infections are falling in the UK for the first time since May. Thank you that they have dropped by more than half a million and hospital cases are decreasing as well. We praise you that vaccines are still doing a good job of helping protect people from getting very sick with the virus. We ask that numbers will continue declining in the coming weeks and months. Amen.
Our events taking place
Dear Lord, we pray that you would equip Chris Hill as he speaks at Time Out with God on 8th August and at his monthly seminar the following day. May those attending be encouraged in their faith.
