Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 21 July 2017

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  • Last week, five acid attacks were carried out across London by two teenagers, one of whom has been arrested and charged. The Government will review current laws and guidance and a parliamentary debate will take place on Monday.
  • The House of Commons has adjourned for the summer, returning on Tuesday 5 September 2017.
  • Following the Grenfell Tower Disaster (five weeks ago), only 6% of the huge quantities of donations received have been distributed to residents, and only £800,000 of around £20 million in donations have been given out.
  • Brexit Secretary David Davis met with the EU's chief negotiator this week. Their priority remains reciprocal rights of EU nationals abroad. EU leaders will decide by late October whether “sufficient progress” has been made in order to allow future trade talks to begin.
