Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 16 March 2018

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  • Prime Minister Theresa May has expelled 23 Russian diplomats after Moscow failed to explain how Col Sergei Skripal and his daughter were attacked with a Russian nerve agent. The Prime Minister said the UK would suspend high-level contacts. In addition, ministers and the Royal Family will not attend the World Cup in June.

  • The World Health Organization is to launch a review into the potential risks of plastic in drinking water. This comes after scientists at the State University of New York in Fredonia recently examined over 250 plastic bottles from nine countries. Plastic contamination was detected in virtually every bottle and brand tested.

  • Yellow snow warnings have been issued as a "mini Beast from the East" is expected to hit the UK this weekend. Almost the whole of England, Scotland and Wales will be affected. Up to 20cm (8in) will fall at the weekend, with Sunday forecast to see "significant snowfall" and a maximum temperature of 1C.
