Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 21 April 2017

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

The problem of drugs within prisons continues to worsen and is linked with increased violence which threatens both prisoners and prison staff. This week, the Ministry of Justice announced the creation of a new specialist squad of police and prison officers to tackle the use of drones for smuggling drugs into prisons.

In other news, tensions continue between North Korea and the US over Pyongyang's nuclear missile testing; and this Sunday (23 April) is both the London Marathon and the first round of elections in the French presidential race.
