Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 23 February 2018

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  • The American evangelist Dr Billy Graham, one of the most important religious figures of the 20th century, has died aged 99. Dr Graham visited more than 185 countries and territories and came to the UK for his first major mission in 1954, where he preached at Harringay stadium, Wembley and White City.

  • Theresa May and her senior ministers managed to strike a deal over the government's approach to Brexit during an eight hour meeting at her country retreat of Chequers. The Prime Minister will set out the position in a speech next week, after a discussion by the full cabinet.

  • Church spires could play a key role in bringing wifi, broadband and mobile access to rural areas through a new agreement between the Church of England and the Government. The Church of England has signed an accord with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), setting out how churches and other church properties could host new digital infrastructure.
