Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday 27 December 2019

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  • December 26th is celebrated in many churches as St Stephen’s Day, when Christians remember Stephen, the first martyr. This saint is mentioned in the Christmas Carol, ‘Good King Wenceslas.’

  • Boxing Day is traditionally a busy day in the sporting calendar when horse racing and football take centre stage. Department stores often start their Boxing Day sales on this day with big reductions in the cost of many items.

  • A new poll suggests support for Donald Trump among US evangelicals is falling. While 80% voted for him in the 2016 election, now more than 40% say they would support him being removed from office.
