Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday 28 June 2019

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  • A man has been charged with attempting to steal the Magna Carta from Salisbury Cathedral in October 2018. Salisbury Cathedral's copy of the text is one of four that remain in existence from the original 1215 charter.

  • The Wimbledon tennis tournament starts on Monday and lasts for two weeks. The new roof on Court Number 1 will be available for the first time.

  • The Church of England is to recognise monasteries for the first time since the days of Henry VIII. The move will enable more than 80 semi-official religious communities to become full members of the Anglican communion.
