Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 29 June 2018

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  • Prince William expressed his hope for "lasting peace" between Israelis and Palestinians during a visit to the occupied West Bank. The Duke visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem and laid a wreath beside the eternal flame. He is the first member of the Royal family to make an official visit to Israel.

  • Theresa May issued a warning to EU leaders last night that citizens’ lives will be at risk if the UK has to leave key policing agreements after Brexit. Mrs May urged EU leaders to "consider what is in the best interests of the safety of your citizens and mine."

  • Customers have been warned that the choice of food on supermarket shelves will start dwindling this weekend because of a shortage of carbon dioxide. CO2 is normally used for putting fizz into beer and carbonated drinks. It is also used in food packaging. Normal supply levels were not expected to resume until next week.

  • England lost their final group match against Belgium in the World Cup last night and will play Columbia next Tuesday for a place in the quarter-finals.
