Customers have been warned that the choice of food on supermarket shelves will start dwindling this weekend because of a shortage of carbon dioxide. CO2 is normally used for putting fizz into beer and carbonated drinks. It is also used in food packaging. Normal supply levels were not expected to resume until next week.
