Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 3 May 2019

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  • Campaigners have lost a High Court challenge against the government's decision to approve plans for a third runway at London's Heathrow airport. The plan was backed by MPs in June 2018.

  • The Treasury has reprieved 1p and 2p coins, saying they will continue being used for many years. The Chancellor said he wants people to "have a choice" over how they spend their money.

  • Monday is a Bank Holiday in the UK, the third in just over two weeks. It is officially referred to as ‘May Day,’ but does not usually fall on May.1st.
