Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 4 January 2019

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  • Sunday 6th January is celebrated in many churches as the Feast of the Epiphany. It is the day when Christians remember the arrival of the Wise Men in Bethlehem. Carols such as ‘We Three Kings’ are often sung.

  • Gatwick and Heathrow are to spend millions of pounds on anti-drone technology following the disruption at the Sussex airport before Christmas. The equipment can detect and jam communications between a drone and its operator. The RAF deployed it at Gatwick last month.

  • The Nationwide building society has said that UK house prices grew at an annual pace of 0.5% in December. The lender believes uncertainty over the economic outlook appears to be undermining confidence in the market.
