Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 4 May 2018

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  • The local election results have proved to be a mixed picture for the main political parties. Labour failed to take control of either Wandsworth or Kensington and Chelsea, but did win in both Plymouth and Trafford in Greater Manchester.

  • Monday’s Bank Holiday may be one of the hottest on record if forecasts are correct. Temperatures are predicted to be up to 27ºC in some parts of the country, with Saturday and Sunday being fairly pleasant as well.

  • The Christian owners of a bakery in Northern Ireland that were found to have discriminated against a gay rights activist took their case to the Supreme Court in Belfast on Tuesday. The McArthur family is challenging a ruling that it broke the law by refusing to decorate a cake with the slogan 'Support Gay Marriage’.
