The LORD is righteous in all he does, merciful in all his acts. He is near to those who call to him, who call to him with sincerity.

Sunday
Forgiving God, please have mercy on those churches that have forgotten or neglected the basic gospel message. Help us to remember that your word is never preached in vain; it always accomplishes what it intends. We ask that all churches and denominations will be encouraged by your Spirit to speak boldly to the congregations in their care. For your glory. Amen.
What can you do to encourage your vicar or pastor to stay true to the message of the gospel?

Monday
Father of all, we bring before you the concerns many have about free speech in British universities being affected by ‘cancel culture.’ Lord, please give wisdom to those in authority so that lecturers and others will not be afraid to air views that some find offensive. May the government's Higher Education Bill strengthen the protection of free speech so that students can be exposed to a wide range of opinions and learn to disagree politely and respectfully. In your name, we pray. Amen.

Tuesday
Lord Jesus, help us to keep your words in our hearts and minds, so that they continue to renew and revive us. Encourage us to stay close to you by reading and meditating on your word and spending time with you in prayer. May we not neglect your word during times of busyness but give us a desire to make time to be in your presence each day. Amen.

Wednesday
Living God, creator of the sun and the stars, thank you for all signs of hope in the world. We praise you for the loving perseverance of those who work to heal, maintain and improve the lives of others. Shed the warmth of your love on those who feel the cold of loneliness and the light of truth on those who stumble in the dark. Amen.

Thursday
Good Shepherd, we bring before you those waiting for medical treatment that has been delayed because of the pandemic. Be with all those who find it stressful waiting for their treatments to take place. Please give wisdom to those in authority so that the backlog of delays can be brought under control and the most urgent cases prioritised. We ask that there will be good, clear communication between doctors and patients at this difficult time. In your mercy. Amen.

Friday
Sovereign Lord, we pray for both Houses of Parliament which have now risen for their summer break and are due to return on 7th September. Please give rest and refreshment to all MPs and Peers as they spend time with their families. May they use this time wisely and feel a sense of your peace, which passes all understanding. We ask that, in line with government guidance, more MPs and Peers can be present in person and not have to attend ‘virtually.’ Amen.
Will you consider writing to your MP, thanking him or her for the work they do on your behalf?

Saturday
Father of Mercy, we bring before you the situation with many asylum seekers crossing the English Channel in small boats due to a surge in illegal migration across Europe. Please give wisdom to the British and French authorities as they pursue the criminals behind these illegal crossings. We pray for those who are escaping persecution and conflict and are far away from home. May they be treated fairly and shown mercy as their claims for asylum are assessed. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Our events
Dear Lord, we pray that you would equip Ian Moore as he speaks at Time Out with God on Monday 2nd August. May each person attending be drawn closer to you. Amen.
