New theme: "I will build my Church".
Jesus promised that he would "build his church." For the next few months we will explore the letter to the Ephesians together. There is no finer exposition, in all of Scripture, of Jesus' purpose and plans for the church. The apostle Paul wrote Ephesians to the churches around Ephesus to display the scope of God's eternal plan for all humanity - for Jews and Gentiles alike. This is the mystery of God, hidden for ages but now made known in Jesus Christ. As we will see, the first three chapters focus on what Christians should believe, unfolding the glorious riches of God's grace in Christ. Dead sinners are made alive and gain eternal salvation "by grace, through faith." The last half of the book explains the implications of God's grace for the church, for individuals, and for families. Come and enjoy Paul's unrivalled revelation of Christ's family, the church.
Peter is Pastor of a church in Essex and a recent Contributor to our Living Light Bible devotional. Peter’s wider Bible teaching ministry includes serving as a prison chaplain and pioneering the creation of Gospel Partnerships in East Africa. Originally a doctoral project, the growth of gospel-centred Pastors’ Fellowships is transforming the evangelical landscape for many churches and leaders in Tanzania and Kenya. Peter became an ordained minister in 1990 following completion of a theological degree. Since then his passion has been to teach the whole counsel of God, revealing the Gospel narrative throughout scripture, and to see this transform lives and stimulate discipleship. This emphasis has led him to further theological training, gaining a Doctorate in Theology in 2015, which provides a platform for his teaching ministry at home and overseas.
