Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 12 January 2018

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  • A government reshuffle was announced earlier this week. The cabinet now includes a new Education Secretary and Northern Ireland Secretary, plus several changes to middle ranking government ministers.

  • Figures show that waiting times in A&E have hit their worst ever levels. Just 85.1% of patients were seen in four hours, well below the 95% target. Latest figures show that over 90% of hospitals in England have too few beds available to provide safe care.

  • A planned visit to London in February by President Trump has been cancelled. He was expected to open the new US embassy in London, which is moving from Mayfair to south London. This visit was not the controversial full state visit, for which no date has yet been set.
