Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 27 January 2017

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

This week, Theresa May was the first world leader to meet with President Trump at the White House; Pakistan's Senate began a debate on amending the country's blasphemy laws; Nigerian Christians continue to experience persecution as churches in Jigawa state were demolished by authorities; the Government came under pressure to disclose exactly what was known about the misfiring of the Trident missile during a routine test in June 2016; and the Supreme Court handed down its judgment in the Brexit case requiring the Government to seek Parliament's approval prior to formally triggering Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.
