Prayers for Parliament and the Nation: Friday, 3 February

" I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. "

- 1 Timothy 2:1-4

Last Friday, the Church of England published its report on Same Sex Marriage which will be discussed at the General Synod in February, and President Trump imposed a ban on refugees and visitors from certain predominantly Muslim countries. People in the UK have been protesting against President Trump's travel ban, calling for his state visit to the UK to be cancelled, and MPs will debate the issue after the Parliamentary recess.

This week, the Supreme Court has been hearing a case on whether or not a fine should have been imposed on a parent who took his child on a term-time holiday, and the Brexit Bill passed its Second Reading in the House of Commons with the support of an overwhelming majority of MPs.
