An evening with Rev David Blackledge & Nikki Schuster
Monday 15th September, 7.45pm (optional buffet from 7pm)
The Presence & Action of God in the Professional Counselling Process
Drawing on their long experience of running professional counselling services in the community, based on Christian beliefs and values, David and Nikki reflect on how such support when needed, opens up new possibilities for healing and inner transformation.
We all have times in our lives when we feel overwhelmed and need a safe confidential space to talk to someone who can support us on our journey through life. The professional counselling process can provide such a space. The professional counsellor is trained to assist in the exploration of thoughts, feelings and behaviours to enable a better understanding of ourselves and others.
David and Nikki will also reflect on what it means to be human and therefore to experience suffering, where God is always present and active even though we may not always be aware of how God is at work. Traditional Christian Psychotherapy helps us better understand the human condition and discover “the cure for the illness” of lost communion with God. Professional Counselling Support helps us better understand ourselves and opens up new possibilities for the future.
Many people quite rightly seek professional medical advice when all is not well. Professional Counselling Support can also be just as valuable and may often be recommended as an alternative to, or alongside prescribed medication. David and Nikki will outline how counselling may provide tools to unpack issues which have been kept buried.
Both Counsel for Life and Renew, provide counselling support for Clergy.
Rev David Blackledge set up Counsel for Life and is Chelmsford Advisor for Pastoral Care and Counselling.
